Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We arrived in Malaysia, blown away by actual infrastructure. There are easily manageable bus stations, a monorail system, and the sidewalks aren't a death gauntlet. The city was very nice and clean, and so far Malaysian people have been extremely friendly and welcoming. Once we arrived in Kuala Lumpur though we were both stricken with a cold, and spent the first few days in bed. After returning to health we were able to explore the city a little. We went to the park where we found a beautiful orchid garden and the Museum of Islamic Art. Sorry we're not sorry about the amount of orchid pictures.
In KL we stayed in China Town where we had heaps of incredible Chinese, Indian, and Malay food to choose from everyday. KL is also home to the Patronas Towers, the tallest twin structures in the world.
A 20 minute ride on the monorail took us out of the the city to the 400 million year old Batu Caves, which house many Hindu temples and shrines.
Kuala Lumpur was a great introduction to Malaysia.  Our next stop is to Taman Negara, via bus and a 70k boat ride into the jungle. -MP
